In a match played on Saturday afternoon (14) at CT Saferj, in Guaratiba, and with closed gates due to the Corona Virus pandemic, Flamengo's U-20 team debuted in the Guanabara Cup with a 4-2 thrashing (Rodrigo Muniz [2], Matheus França and Gustavo) over Friburguense. Much superior on the field from the initial whistle, Mais Querido opened three to zero with thirty minutes of play, and was able to save itself for the debut in the Copa do Brasil of the category, scheduled for next Thursday (19) at 19 pm in Arapiraca, in the interior of Alagoas, against Jaciobá (AL). For the Guanabara Cup, the Garotos do Ninho commanded by coach Mauricio Souza face Nova Iguaçu away from home, on Sunday. The club awaits an official position from the CBF and FERJ regarding a possible postponement of the games, due to the Corona Virus.

Flamengo started the game trying to impose pressure in search of an early goal. In the ninth minute, Yuri de Oliveira won the ball back in the attacking half and passed it to Rodrigo Muniz, who shot from the edge of the box, but goalkeeper André Juan made a solid save. In the 13th minute, Guilherme Bala played a great one-two with Lázaro, burst into the box at speed, and crossed to Yuri de Oliveira. The midfielder controlled the ball and struck powerfully. André Juan made a great save, preventing the first Flamengo goal of the match.

In the 16th minute, Flamengo opened the scoring. Pablo, celebrating his birthday, crossed perfectly for top scorer Rodrigo Muniz to head home with a confident finish, scoring his first goal of the 2020 State Championship. Two minutes later, Flamengo extended their lead in a play that felt like a repeat of the first goal. Once again providing excellent support down the left flank, Pablo crossed, and Rodrigo Muniz delivered a beautiful header that left André Juan with no chance to save.

The Ninho Boys wanted more. In the 25th minute, Mateus França took a shot from outside the box, but the goalkeeper rebounded. Rodrigo Muniz beat his marker and passed to Lázaro. Inside the six-yard box, his shot was blocked by the defense, who cleared it for a corner. In the 32nd minute, the third goal came. Gomes was brought down inside the box, and Matheus França fired a precise shot into the right corner of the Friburgo goalkeeper's net, who pulled one back in the final play of the first half. Mateus took a penalty, which the red-and-black goalkeeper Pedro Caracoci saved, but Mateus himself tapped the rebound into the back of the net.

Flamengo continued to dominate in the second half. In the ninth minute, Guilherme Bala received the ball in the box and cleverly shot past André Juan, who made an excellent save. In the 16th minute, they turned the game around. Yuri de Oliveira crossed, and defender Gustavo headed in stylishly for the red-and-blacks' fourth goal. In the 31st minute, following a corner kick, Mateus again reduced the deficit for Friburguense.
