With a stellar performance in the first half, the Garotos do Ninho thrashed Goiás 6-0 (Lincoln [2], Lucas Silva, Gabriel Silva, Luiz Henrique and Bill), in a match played on Wednesday afternoon (12.07), at Gávea, valid for the second round of the Brazilian Under-20 Championship. With the large score, Flamengo sleeps at the top of Group C of the competition, tied with Grêmio and Coritiba in number of points won, but with an advantage in goal difference. Rubro-Negro will rest in the next round, and returns to the field on the 26th, to face Corinthians, at Arena Barueri. Before returning to the field for the Brazilian Championship, the Mais Querido will decide the title of the Campeonato Carioca, in two matches against Vasco over the next two weekends, with the final game scheduled for Gávea.

In the 8th minute, Flamengo created its first chance of the game. In a great attacking move, Jean Lucas passed the ball to Kleber, who crossed into the box. Jean Lucas backheeled the ball to Luiz Henrique, who fired a shot over the Goiás goal. In the 12th minute, Gabriel Silva pedaled the ball and crossed to Lucas Silva, but his shot also went over the bar. In the 15th minute, Lucas Silva exchanged passes with Jean Lucas and was awarded a penalty. Lincoln converted the penalty and opened the scoring for Flamengo.

The Ninho Boys continued to attack heavily and killed the game in the first half. In the 25th minute, Jean Lucas cut in and crossed into the box. Opportunistic, Lincoln added another. The next minute, Jean Lucas again delivered an excellent cross into the box, and Lucas Silva headed in the third. In the 32nd minute, the rout turned. Gabriel Silva made a great individual play and beat the entire defense to score the fourth in the first half.

Aware of the importance of goal difference in a short-lived group stage competition, Flamengo didn't slow down in the second half, further increasing their lead. In the 11th minute, Gabriel Silva made another excellent individual play and crossed for Luiz Henrique to score the fifth. In the 30th minute, Samuel's shot from the edge of the box hit the crossbar. In the next play, it was Nilson's turn to pull one back for Goiás, after a fine individual play inside the Flamengo box. In the 44th minute, Bill sealed the Flamengo victory at Gávea: 6-0.

"I'm very happy to have contributed three assists to the team in today's game. We continue working hard to achieve our goals for the season, and today's victory was crucial to our recovery in this Brazilian Championship. Gilmar Popoca demands a lot from me in training that I get to the bottom with quality and excel in my crosses. This is all the result of hard work, and thank God everything went well again today. Now we shift our focus to the State finals, before heading to Barueri to face Corinthians in the next Brazilian Championship," said Jean Lucas.

Flamengo took to the field with Gabriel Batista, Kleber, Bernardo, André Baumer, Michael (Moraes), Vinicius Souza, Jean Lucas (Hugo Moura), Lucas Silva (Bill), Gabriel Silva (Samuel), Luiz Henrique (Braian) and Lincoln (Jardeu). Coach: Gilmar Popoca.
