In a match held on Sunday morning (01), in Gávea, Mengão's U-20 team, led by coach Fábio Matias, had a consistent performance throughout the 90 minutes and came from behind to beat Corinthians 3-1 (Lázaro, Noga and André), in a duel valid for the ninth round of the Brazilian Championship. The important victory puts the Garotos do Ninho momentarily in second place in the competition, with 17 points won. But the entire round will still develop throughout Sunday. The Mais Querido's next match will be on Sunday, the 08th, against Internacional in Porto Alegre. 

The game

The first chance fell to Corinthians. Just two minutes in, Wesley took a shot from outside the box, and the ball went wide. In the ninth minute, Corinthians opened the scoring. Matheus Araújo's free kick hit the crossbar, and Ryan scored on the rebound. In the 26th minute, Ítalo took a low shot, and goalkeeper Alan Gobetti palmed it away for a corner. In the 33rd minute, Thiaguinho struck hard, and the Corinthians goalkeeper saved again. Mengão equalized in the 37th minute, when André provided a beautiful pass to top scorer Lázaro, who crossed the ball for his eighth goal of the season. 

Flamengo returned for the second half to seal the victory. In the third minute, Daniel Cabral crossed into the box, and Noga headed the ball, but the goalkeeper saved it. In the 14th minute, Flamengo turned the game around. After Daniel Cabral's free kick, Lázaro brushed the near post, and Gabriel Noga was well-positioned to head the ball into the back of the net, putting the Garotos do Ninho in front. Soon after, in the 18th minute, André extended his lead with a header, giving the Mais Querido more confidence in the game.

After the third goal, Mengão managed to maintain its lead without any scares and had chances to extend its lead. First in the 34th minute, with a free kick by Daniel Cabral. And then with a shot by Lázaro from the edge of the box. The Corinthians goalkeeper made saves on both attempts, but it couldn't prevent the Red-Blacks from winning the Championship.
