In a match played on a hot Sunday morning (11), in Gávea, Flamengo's U-20 team put a lot of pressure on their opponents throughout the 90 minutes, but after an unfair expulsion of right-back Wesley at the beginning of the second half, they left the field defeated by Grêmio by 2x1 (Thiaguinho), a result that leaves the Garotos do Ninho in fifth place in the Brazilian Championship, with nine points won in four games. Next Wednesday (14), at 15 pm, Rubro-Negro visits Palmeiras, at Allianz Parque.

The opening 15 minutes saw intense pressure from Flamengo in search of a goal. The Rubro-Negro's first chance of the match came from a superb free kick by Daniel Cabral in the fifth minute. Grêmio goalkeeper Hugo made a good save and palmed the ball out for a corner. In the ninth minute, Wesley burst into the box at speed and crossed to Werton, whose shot was blocked by the defense. In the 13th minute, Wesley broke free from his marker and struck a powerful shot, which Hugo saved safely. Flamengo was taking possession of the attacking half, but it was Grêmio who opened the scoring with their first shot of the match, a beautiful goal by Cuiabano. 

The Ninho Boys, who were much better in the game, didn't feel the impact of the goal and equalized the following minute, with Thiaguinho scoring, tapping the ball into the back of the net past Hugo after a superb assist from Daniel Cabral. In the final play before halftime, Flamengo goalkeeper Matheus Cunha made a beautiful save from Kevin's shot.

At the start of the second half, in the sixth minute, Grêmio regained the lead with a goal from Rubens. Trying to replicate their first-half performance, Mengão nearly equalized in the next play, with a shot from Daniel Cabral. Hugo made another excellent save. In the ninth minute, Ramon crossed and Ryan Luka headed the ball against the post. On the rebound, the Grêmio defense cleared the danger. 

The referee sent off Flamengo right-back Wesley and Grêmio midfielder Gabriel Silva. The game became more open. In the 29th minute, Pedrinho received the ball in the box and shot hard, but it went wide. In the 40th minute, after a good attacking move, André received the ball well positioned inside the box but shot over the bar, the Mais Querido's last chance of the game.
