On a rainy afternoon in Gávea, Flamengo's U-20 team hosted Vitória in a match valid for the 17th round of the Brazilian Championship. The "Garotos do Ninho" (The Boys of the Nest) attacked heavily throughout the first half and took the lead, but suffered a comeback and ended up leaving the field with a 2-1 loss (Thiago Fernandes). With two rounds remaining in the qualifying phase, "Mais Querido" is in sixth place with 27 points and would qualify for the quarterfinals (the top eight advance). Flamengo's last two opponents will be Fluminense (Laranjeiras) and Corinthians (Gávea).

Flamengo started the game pressing with two good shots from Richard Rios, in the fourth and sixth minutes. Bahia goalkeeper Cabral saved both, the second being palmed away for a corner. In the 25th minute, Richard Rios crossed into the box, Gabriel Aires headed, and Cabral made a great save. In the 28th minute, Gabriel Aires was released, the goalkeeper cleared, and the ball fell in the middle of the field to Thiago Fernandes, who attempted a lob. Cabral returned in time and made the save. Flamengo pressed on, searching for the first goal.

In the 39th minute, Gabriel Aires unleashed a bicycle kick that caught the opposing defense by surprise. But goalkeeper Cabral was alert and made another good save in the final dangerous play of the first half. 

In the first minute of the second half, Mengão opened the scoring. Lázaro passed to Ramon, who delivered a perfect cross to Thiago Fernandes. Well-positioned inside the box, he headed in for his fourth goal of the Brazilian Championship. The Boys from the Nest wanted more, and almost extended their lead in the 13th minute with a shot from outside the box by Lázaro. The ball deflected off the defense and went out for a corner to the right of Vitória's goal. However, with their first shot of the match, Vitória equalized through David.

Rubro-Negro returned to the attack in search of three points. In the 30th minute, Lázaro rolled the ball, and Richard Rios arrived with a first-time shot. Cabral made a great save with his feet, saving Vitória, and sent the ball to a corner. A minute later, Thiago Fernandes passed to Lázaro, whose shot was blocked by Cabral inside the six-yard box. Vitória had a good chance in the 37th minute, when Santiago shot. This time, Pedro Caracoci made a great save, and palmed the ball away for a corner. Shortly after, Hítalo shot low, and Pedro Caracoci saved Rubro-Negro once again. In stoppage time, Lucas Dante scored the winning goal for the Bahian team.
