By Ian Sena - inIn a match played on Friday afternoon (16) at Alair Corrêa Stadium, in Cabo Frio, Flamengo's U-18 team, which is competing in the U-20 State Championship, beat Cabofriense 1-0 (Filipe Chrysman), in its debut in the Taça Rio. Even though its mission was made quite difficult by the poor conditions of the stadium's pitch in the Lagos Region, the Garotos do Ninho imposed themselves throughout the match and won deservedly. Next Wednesday (21), Mengão hosts Boavista, in Gávea, at 10 am. FLA TV will broadcast live once again, with images.
Flamengo created their first good chance with a cross-shot from Ronald in the eighth minute. The ball went to the right of goalkeeper Nathan's goal. Flamengo were the better team, but struggled to impose their style due to the uneven pitch. Even so, they still threatened the opposing goal. In the 21st minute, Marcos Felipe controlled the ball with his chest inside the box and was brought down by Tannos. Maycon took the penalty, but Nathan made the save, preventing Flamengo's first goal in the Rio Cup.
The Nest Boys didn't feel the pressure, and maintained their dominance until the end of the first half. In their best opportunity, in the 29th minute, Ronald received the ball in the box, turned around his marker, and shot to Nathan's right.
The Mais Querido continued to be better in the second half and went in search of victory. Ten minutes in, Milani got ahead of his opponent and took a shot from outside the box, over the goal of the team from Região dos Lagos. The Boys from the Nest didn't give up, finally opening the scoring in the 31st minute. Danilo made a good run down the right flank of the red-and-black attack and hit a cross. The defense cleared the first attempt, but Filipe Chrysman flicked the ball on the rebound. This time, Carlos cleared it with his hand off the line. After the defender was rightly sent off, Filipe Chrysman himself struck with precision, putting Mengão ahead.
With an extra man on the field, Mais Querido went in search of a second. In the 33rd minute, Danilo fired a powerful shot from inside the box, but Nathan made a great save. Rubro-Negro still created good chances from Filipe Chrysman and Maycon, but failed to convert them into goals. The final whistle confirmed Mais Querido's important victory in their debut in the U-20 Rio Cup.
