Under-20s beat Botafogo in the first game of the Carioca final
Matheus Sávio and Daniel dos Anjos scored the goals that gave Flamengo a 2-1 victory

In the first leg of the U-20 Rio de Janeiro State Championship final in Duque de Caxias, Flamengo defeated Botafogo 2-1 and now needs a draw to be crowned champion in the second leg, at home to the Flamengo. The goals came only in the second half: Matheus Sávio opened the scoring with an individual play down the right flank, and Daniel dos Anjos capitalized on a corner kick poorly cleared by the opposing defense. Pachu pulled one back for Botafogo late in the game, but the young Flamengo players managed to hold on to their lead.

The second match of the grand final will be played next Saturday (06), at the Luso-Brasileiro Stadium, on Ilha do Governador (RJ). The game will start at 15:15 pm.
The game
The first half was a fierce battle. Both teams struggled to keep their opponents from creating space. Botafogo was more dangerous during the first half, creating three chances, but was thwarted by goalkeeper João Lopes's excellent play. In the second half, Flamengo adjusted their defense and came out on top. With better defensive positioning, the attack was more effective, and in the 15th minute, Matheus Sávio made a beautiful individual play down the right, cutting onto his left foot and striking hard past the goalkeeper. The ball deflected off the defense and into the back of the net.
Daniel dos Anjos (pictured), who came off the bench to replace Fabrício, scored the second goal for the red-and-blacks, showing great opportunism. The black-and-white defense poorly cleared a cross from the right, and, well-positioned, the center forward outwitted the defenders and managed to finish accurately to extend the lead.
Near the end of the game, Botafogo managed to reduce the score with a powerful shot from outside the box by Pachu, leaving the score at 2-1. Well positioned, the young players of Mais Querido managed the advantage well and the game ended with a victory for the red and black team.
