On Friday night (09.01), the ball rolled for the São Paulo Junior Football Cup. Flamengo's under-20 team faced Osasco, who were playing at home, and came away with a 1-0 victory at the Prefeito José Liberatti stadium. The Rubro-Negro's result guaranteed Zé Ricardo's team the top spot in group Q and qualification for the second phase, with a 100% success rate in the first stage of the competition.
"We worked really hard to get here. We went after the three points and thank God I was able to take the free kick accurately and score the winning goal," said Cafú, who found the net in the 47th minute of the second half.
With first place in the group, Mais Querido will face the winner of Group R in the next phase, which will be decided this Saturday afternoon (January 10.01). The boys' most likely opponent is leader Taboão da Serra, with six points, who will face América-MG, looking to secure the lead. Chapecoense is second with three points and would need a defeat for Taboão and a victory over Santa Cruz.

The game
Douglas Baggio and Cafu came close to scoring in the opening minutes of the match. In the 20th minute, Thiago Santos made a beautiful individual play, finishing with a lob, but was unsuccessful with his shot. In the 36th minute, Rafael Dumas tried his luck with a header, but the ball bounced over the crossbar. Before the referee's whistle signaled the end of the first half, Cafu had two more chances inside the penalty area, but the ball was stopped by the opposing defense and goalkeeper.
After halftime, Flamengo's first big chance to open the scoring came again from Cafú: after a low cross from Douglas Baggio, the striker took a good shot, which was eventually blocked by the defender. In the 15th and 16th minutes, Zé Ricardo changed the attack: Marquinhos and Thiago Santos were replaced by Matheus Sávio and Luã Lúcio. In the 20th minute, Douglas Baggio nearly got a header in the clearest scoring opportunity of the match so far, but the Osasco goalkeeper made a miraculous reflex save. The striker was replaced in the 28th minute by Felipe Vizeu, the last change made by the red-and-black coach. In the 41st minute, Osasco had their chance with Anderson, but right-back Ronaldo cleared the danger. Flamengo's winning goal only came in stoppage time, in the 47th minute, after a rehearsed play from a free kick: Cafú exchanged passes with Matheus Sávio and hit a low shot that went through the wall and deceived goalkeeper Matheus, who watched the ball die in the net.
