In a match played on a rainy Saturday morning (03), in Gávea, Flamengo's U-20 team, which was led from the bench today by assistant coach Marcio Torres, defeated Bangu 2-0 (Yuri de Oliveira and Jefferson), reaching 13 points in the Taça Rio and getting very close to mathematically securing their place in the quarterfinals of the second round of the State Championship. Qualification could come with a draw against Macaé away from home in the next match, or if Boavista and Botafogo do not win in the round. On Wednesday (07), Mais Querido receives Ponte Preta, in Gávea, for the ninth round of the Brazilian Championship, and will try to maintain the isolated leadership of the competition.

The rain was heavy in Gávea, and Flamengo took advantage to open the scoring early in the match. Just one minute into the match, Yuri de Oliveira took a shot from the edge of the box. The ball bounced on the wet turf, gained speed, and fooled goalkeeper Yan. Flamengo continued to dominate the field and create good opportunities. In the 17th minute, Sidney saw Braian's fast run behind the defense and rolled it in perfectly. The right-back crossed first time to Yuri de Oliveira, who also struck first time.
