In the second leg of the Carioca Sub-20 final, Flamengo beat Fluminense 1-0 on Thursday morning (30), at Gávea. The Flamengo goal was scored by Kayque David. Even with the positive result, Mais Querido could not reverse the score from the first leg (4-1 for Tricolor) and finished as runner-up in the competition.

The game
Needing to overturn a comfortable lead gained by Fluminense in the first leg, the Flamengo youth team started the match pressing the Laranjeiras side in search of the first goal. In the first five minutes, Thiaguinho had two opportunities to open the scoring, but the Fluminense goalkeeper managed to prevent it.

At 10 minutes, another great chance created by Flamengo. Matheus França stole the ball in midfield, advanced into the area and shot hard. The ball went very close to the post. At 20 minutes, Thiaguinho, once again, arrived well on the right side of the area and took a shot. The goalkeeper stretched out and parried it for a corner.

Flamengo were superior in the first half, created the best opportunities and almost managed to open the scoring.

Flamengo continued to create several scoring opportunities in the second half. Seven minutes in, Andre shot from inside the box and hit the post. At 24 minutes, Flamengo finally broke the deadlock! After a scramble in the box, the ball fell to Kayque David who put it into the back of the net: 1-0.  

Until the very last minute, the Flamengo youth team tried for the two goals they needed to take the game to penalties, but the ball stubbornly refused to go in. With this result, Flamengo finished as runners-up in the Carioca Sub-20 championship.

Next appointment
The Under-20s return to the field next Sunday (3) to face Fortaleza, at 15 pm, at Gávea, for the Brazilian Championship of the category.
