After a 175-day hiatus due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, the Rio de Janeiro Under-20 Championship is back. On Wednesday morning (09), in a match valid for the second round of the Guanabara Cup, the Garotos do Ninho faced Nova Iguaçu at Jânio Moraes Stadium, in Baixada Fluminense, and secured their second victory in the competition. With goals from Samuel and Gustavo, the Mais Querido won in a comeback, maintaining their 100% record in the championship. In the next round, Flamengo will host Fluminense, in Gávea. The classic will be broadcast live on Fla TV. 

Nova Iguaçu opened the scoring after just two minutes with Ewerton. The Nest Boys began to press, and after good chances from Samuel and André, they equalized in the 13th minute with a beautiful team move. Ítalo saw Gustavo, who was playing off-target on the right wing, pass well. He headed the ball to Samuel, who also scored first time, leveling the score. It was the Nest Boys' first goal in the U-20 category.

Flamengo were the better team, and they turned the game around with the last kick before halftime. After a superb cross from Ítalo, Gustavo dove in and scored the Mais Querido's second goal with a diving header. 

The second half was more evenly matched, with few scoring chances. Victor Hugo came out with precision and made a great save in the 32nd minute, Nova Iguaçu's only dangerous move. Rubro-Negro had good opportunities to kill the game on late counterattacks from Carlos Daniel and João Gabriel, but neither resulted in goals. The important away win gives coach Mauricio Souza peace of mind as he resumes training, focusing on the Brazilian Championship debut on the 23rd against Internacional in Porto Alegre.
