After the 4-1 thrashing in the Rio Cup, Garotos do Ninho once again defeated their rivals with great superiority and took the lead in the Brasileirão.
By Ian Sena - inLess than a month after crushing Fluminense 4-1 in a classic match for the Rio Cup, the Garotos do Ninho U-20 team, led by coach Mauricio Souza, faced their rivals again in a match for the fourth round of the Brazilian Championship. The result was a carbon copy of the previous match. Once again far superior on the field and without much difficulty, Flamengo defeated Fluminense 4-1 again (Luiz Henrique, Yuri, Wendel and Rodrigo Muniz) and took the lead in the competition. In the next round, the Mais Querido hosts Internacional, in a match scheduled for Thursday (18), at 15 pm, in Volta Redonda.

The Boys from the Nest started brighter and soon opened the scoring. In the seventh minute, Vitor Gabriel was released, burst into the box, and hit a cross that Marcelo made a good save. Luiz Henrique made no mistake on the rebound, tapping it into the back of the net. In the 12th minute, Wendel sped down the line and crossed to Gomes, who challenged the defense and saw the ball capriciously hit the Tricolor post.
With their first shot, in the 16th minute, Fluminense equalized with a cross-shot from Evanilson. Flamengo continued to dominate and threatened again in the 19th minute, when Wendel pressured the opponent's ball out and crossed perfectly for Vitor Gabriel, who fired a first-time shot over Marcelo's goal. In the 28th minute, Flamengo regained the lead with a masterful free kick from Yuri, which went into the top corner, leaving the Tricolor goalkeeper with no chance to save.

In the 40th minute, in a strong attacking move, Yuri passed the ball to Vitor Gabriel, who set it up for Wendel. He volleyed it in with a conscious effort, but the ball sailed just wide of the Fluminense crossbar, the last chance before halftime.
Flamengo continued to dominate the second half, extending their lead in the 17th minute with a superb penalty kick from Wendel. Flamengo didn't slow down, nearly scoring a fourth in the 39th minute with a Rodrigo Muniz header. But in the 46th minute, Fluminense had no escape. Rodrigo Muniz received the ball behind his defender, advanced, and skillfully chipped the ball in to score his 19th goal of the season, sealing another U-20 victory over Fluminense in 2019.
