Junior coach regrets suspension from the State Championship

Armênio Moura, however, respects the decision and recognizes the difficulty of playing at the scheduled times.

Until further notice, the State Junior Championship is suspended. This is due to an injunction granted by the 4th Labor Court of Rio de Janeiro, at the request of the Athletes' Union, preventing games from taking place between 10 am and 17 pm. Flamengo's U-20 coach, Armênio Moura, accepted and respected the decision. However, the Flamengo manager expressed regret that this happened at such a positive moment for the team in the competition.

Flamengo leads the Carioca championship by a landslide, with 19 points from seven rounds (six wins and one draw), two ahead of Botafogo, who is second with 17. Furthermore, the team boasts the tournament's best attack, with 20 goals scored, and also the best defense, with only six goals conceded. The state championship's top scorer, Diego Maurício, also hails from Gávea, with 10 goals. Armênio lamented the team's drop in rhythm.

"We hadn't played for two weeks, we were supposed to return this weekend, and now the championship has been suspended. Unfortunately, this happened at a time when we were doing very well in the championship. The team was playing well, on a roll, and in the lead, but we can't complain. The decision has to be accepted; it's really difficult to play at these times, and now we'll wait for a decision," he said.

The red-and-black team's planning remains unshaken. The team continues training normally at Ninho do Urubu, in two shifts, with technical, tactical, and physical training. For coach Armênio Moura, the only problem for the team is going too long without playing official matches.

"Only in official matches do we truly feel the pressure and the rhythm of the game, but we're trying to schedule some practice matches to minimize this issue. It's a long championship, we have to work hard, and our priority is to win the Guanabara Cup to guarantee a spot in the final," he explained.

Next Monday, the president of the Rio de Janeiro State Football Federation, Dr. Rubens Lopes will preside over an Extraordinary General Assembly, at the entity's headquarters, located at Rua Radialista Waldir Amaral, nº 20 – Maracanã, to discuss the injunction and seek a solution to the impasse.
