After a well-deserved month-long vacation, Flamengo's U-20 team returned to training last Monday (June 24.06) for the start of preseason training. Since then, the group has been training daily at Ninho do Urubu and arrives today (June 29.06) for its sixth consecutive day of training. Coach Cleber dos Santos enjoyed the first week of work and revealed what his main objective has been since returning to training.

"Our biggest concern was ensuring the players understood what we wanted them to do in upcoming championship matches. All training sessions focused heavily on cognitive development, through mini-games and exercises that helped them understand our game plan. From day one, we communicated our goals for the upcoming season to them," explained the team's coach.

Upon returning to training, Cleber dos Santos was unable to see Digão, Samir, and Thomás again. The three finished last season's U-20 season under the coach, but are now part of the Mais Querido's professional team. Nothing to worry about, as the coach himself told Flamengo's official website last week, the squad boasts strong players in every position. One of them is midfielder Caio Quiroga, who didn't neglect his fitness during his vacation.

"I ran on the sand and the boardwalk for a few days. I prepared myself for this return. This first week was great for us to show that we're really hungry. The coaching staff gave us short, but intense and tiring workouts. The whole group embraced this idea and all the players are doing really well," said Caio Quiroga.

The team's next official challenge is the Taça BH, which will be held in August. However, throughout the preseason, the boys will face several Rio teams in training matches. The first of these is scheduled for next Friday (July 05.07th) in Gávea. The opponent will be Audax.
