The Campeonato Carioca U-20 has a new leader. For the first time in ten rounds, neither Flamengo nor Botafogo are in first place. With 25 points, Vasco leads the table. After the midweek matches, there are four rounds remaining until the final of the Guanabara Cup. The U-20 competition is played differently than the professional competition. There is no knockout stage, only a points-based system. All teams play each other, and the team with the most points wins. Just like in the second round of the Rio Cup, home-field advantage is simply reversed. The winners of each Cup play in the final, a two-legged final, to decide the Rio champion.
