Just like in 2012, Flamengo and Botafogo will decide the OPG Tournament this year; Flamengo's qualification for the final comes with a rout over Serra Macaense

On the afternoon of last Wednesday (13.11), at the Gávea social headquarters, Flamengo's under-20 team defeated Serra Macaense, 7-2, and secured a spot in the final of the Otávio Pinto Guimarães Tournament. The red-black goals were scored by Igor Sartori, Recife, Fernandinho, Tiago (2) and Eduardo (2). With the victory, the Mais Querido ended the second phase undefeated and in the lead of group E, with 16 points won. The opponent in the finals will be Botafogo.
"The players are very confident in the games. My work is based on the balance between defense and attack, and the attack has been playing its role. Since the time I coached Flamengo's youth team, my teams have focused on the offensive, and we have achieved an above-average goal margin. But the defense's work must also be recognized, because the attack can't produce much without a strong defense," explained coach Cleber dos Santos.
Last year, in two fantastic matches, Flamengo and Botafogo decided the Otávio Pinto Guimarães Tournament, and the trophy ended up coming to Gávea. In 2013, the title race will begin next Sunday (November 17.11), when the two teams face off at 16 p.m. at Caio Martins Stadium. The return leg will be played at Gávea's headquarters on November 23.
"We expect a good derby. Botafogo has been doing very well lately and has made it far in the Copa do Brasil. In the last Guanabara Cup, they got the better of them in the semifinals, but we beat them in last year's OPG Tournament. So, I expect a very even contest, with no advantage for either side," said Cleber dos Santos.
