Thirsty for titles. That's how you could describe the Flamengo U-17 team's youth players, coached by Phelipe Leal. After winning the Copa do Brasil in their category at the end of last year, defeating Fluminense in the final at the Maracanã, Flamengo overcame São Paulo on penalties, after a 0-0 draw in regulation time, in the semi-final played at the Raulino de Oliveira Stadium in Volta Redonda, and deservedly secured their place in another national competition final. This time, it's the Brazilian Championship. Now, Flamengo watches from the sidelines as their opponent in the tournament final is decided, which will be the winner of the duel between Grêmio and Corinthians.

Flamengo started the game pressing for a goal and remained far superior to their opponent throughout the match. In the ninth minute, Caio took a free kick near the edge of the area, and goalkeeper Young made a partial save. On the rebound, the defense cleared the danger. In the 18th minute, Caio received the ball at speed on the left wing and crossed perfectly for Daniel Cabral. The Flamengo midfielder, a member of the Brazilian national team, appeared as a surprise attacker inside the area and shot first-time, but over the São Paulo goal. Following that, Carlos Daniel shot across goal and goalkeeper Young parried it for a corner. 

The Flamengo pressure was intense. At 25 minutes, Caio crossed, Pedro Arthur controlled the ball, and Daniel Cabral was blocked by the defense. The ball fell to Lázaro, whose shot was also blocked. At 33 minutes, Daniel Cabral tried again from outside the area, forcing another save from Young. The Flamengo youth team were launching a veritable blitz in São Paulo's area, who could only defend and pray for the first half to end. At 34 minutes, Carlos Daniel shot, and the São Paulo goalkeeper made the save without giving a rebound.

Flamengo continued to dominate in the second half. Six minutes in, Caio made a beautiful individual play, dribbling past two defenders and shooting wide to the left of the São Paulo goal. At eleven minutes, Lázaro took a shot across goal, but Young made another save. São Paulo only threatened for the first time in the game 20 minutes into the second half, with a shot from outside the area by Pablo that went wide to the right of Flamengo's goalkeeper Bruno. 

Flamengo was dominating their opponent in search of a goal and qualification for the final without needing penalties. In the 34th minute, Carlos Daniel received the ball, burst into the area at speed and shot just wide of Young's left post, in the last scoring opportunity of regulation time.

The penalties came, but Flamengo has Bruno. With six penalties saved this season, the Flamengo goalkeeper maintained his excellent average and stopped two more, from Patrick and Pagé, reaching an incredible mark of eight penalties saved so far this season. The Flamengo youth team were almost perfect, scoring with Caio, Maicon, Diego and Lázaro, winning the shootout 4-3 and reaching another national competition final in the Under-17 category. May another title come!
