Vinicius Souza comments on expectations for the second half of the year for the Ninho Boys

The young midfielder also spoke about the responsibility of wearing the Mantle and the beginning of his career.

Flamengo maintains its tradition of high-quality youth development, striving year after year to uncover and hone the talent of the "Garotos do Ninho" (Nest Boys). Born on June 17, 1999, Vinicius de Souza Costa is one of the promising players on the U20 team and is part of a generation that, after two undefeated years in the U17s, earned a place in the senior team.

Vinicius Souza began showcasing his talent through a community project in which he was born. At Padre Miguel Futebol Clube, the player attracted attention in the championships he competed in and eventually moved to Mais Querido.

"I played in the Vila Vintém project until they spotted me there. Since then, I've been here at Flamengo. It was a tough start, but my parents helped me a lot, I managed to turn things around and I'm still here today," said the midfielder.

At 18 years old, the young midfielder is starting to collect call-ups for the Brazilian Under-17 and Under-20 national teams. Dreaming of greater heights, Vinicius also commented on the feeling of defending Flamengo's colors.

"It's very important for my family and me. I'm very happy to wear the jersey of our favorite club and be able to honor this Mantle. I want to be able to do even more at the youth and professional levels," explained the youngster.

The Red-Black team still has important competitions ahead after the end of the Campeonato Carioca, such as the Otávio Pinto Guimarães Tournament (OPG) and the Copa Rio Grande do Sul. "I expect many titles in the second half of the year. We're training hard and remain very focused on winning all these trophies. That's Flamengo; we thrive on titles and hope to emerge from all the tournaments with a positive balance," Vinicius concluded.

After the 2-1 defeat in the first leg of the Carioca final, the Garotos do Ninho will face Vasco again this Wednesday (23), at 10 am, at the Moça Bonita Stadium, in Bangu, behind closed doors.
