This Wednesday (8), Flamengo/Marinha returns to play in the Brazilian Women's Football Championship A-1 after two weeks without matches. The Girls from Gávea go to São José do Rio Preto and face Rio Preto at the Anísio Haddad stadium, at 15 pm, for the 12th round.

Flamengo is coming off a victory in the tournament, having secured a 2-0 victory over Foz Cataratas in Gávea. Currently, the Mais Querido has seven wins, three draws, and one loss in eleven matches.

Dispute system

In the first stage of the competition, the teams face each other in a home-and-away format. Then, the top four clubs from each of the two groups advance to the quarterfinals, semifinals, and final. All matches will be played in home-and-away format. The Brazilian champion also secures a spot in the 2019 Copa Libertadores.

the opponent

Rio Preto comes into the match after a 2-0 victory over Ponte Preta. The team is in third place in Group 2, with 19 points, four wins, seven draws and no losses in eleven matches.

Retrospect

This will be the eighth time Flamengo/Marinha and Rio Preto face each other in the Brasileirão Feminino. The first meeting was in 2015, the first year of the Flamengo-Marinha partnership. In the first round of the second phase, Flamengo lost 5-0 and was defeated 1-0 in the second leg.

In 2016, the teams played in the tournament's final, which ended with Mais Querido as champions. In the first leg, Mengo lost 1-0 at home. Later, in São José do Rio Preto, Larissa opened the scoring and Gaby completed the scoring for a sensational 2-1 victory and the first-ever trophy.

In 2017, the teams faced each other again in the sixth round. At the Anísio Haddad Stadium, Flamengo played a strong match, defeating Rio Preto 3-1, with goals from Pâmela (twice) and Diany. At Gávea Stadium, the match was tough and well-contested. However, the Meninas da Gávea team lost 3-2. Jane and Ju scored the goals.

In the 3rd round of the current season, Dany Helena scored in the 1-1 draw at Gávea.
