After eleven months, Isadora returns to the Mengão pitch
Striker injured left knee ligament in the first match of the Campeonato Carioca
By Gabriel Lima* - inO The Meninas da Gávea's friendly against Colo-Colo on August 2nd of this year was special for Isadora. That day, the red-and-black forward returned from a serious knee injury that had sidelined her for eleven months. The number 77 spoke to FlaTV about her recovery and what it was like returning to the field. Check out some excerpts from the interview:
About the injury
I'd been at Flamengo for two months, so it all happened very quickly. It was in the first game of the Campeonato Carioca, right when it happened, we were playing against Fluminense. I was running and Juci (Jucinara) was going to pass me the ball. I was running to receive the pass, and I felt a very strong pressure on my back, on my left side, on my buttocks. The moment I stepped on the ground, all that pressure came onto my back; I already knew it. I cried so much at that moment, not even because of the pain I was feeling, but because I already knew it was very serious.
How was the recovery?
They explained everything to me, saying the recovery would take nine to twelve months and that with dedication and the best I could, I would take the minimum amount of time to return to playing. At that point, I even considered quitting, until they came to me and asked what it would be like if one day I couldn't kick with my niece. I told them that wasn't what I wanted. That's why I decided not to give up. After eight and a half months, I was already working with the girls, I returned in the minimum amount of time, and I was very happy.
Return to the pitch
My leg was shaking. The first time I had the injury, I didn't feel the same way I did now. I was nervous the whole game. It feels like you want to do so much, but you get nervous. It was really nice, it was that 'phew!' moment. I'm back, and it's only going to get better now.
