Flamengo/Marinha released three players to the Brazilian National Team in the regional call-up made by Emily Lima. Training from February 6th to 11th at Granja Comary in Teresópolis, Rio de Janeiro, the athletes were tested throughout. Representing the red-and-black team, defender Karen, goalkeeper Maike, and forward Nathane evaluated their experience wearing the green and yellow jersey positively.

Called up after Santos' Aline Calandrine was cut, defender Karen commented on the call-up. "I never imagined the possibility of wearing the Brazil jersey again. When I went to afternoon training, I received a message from a friend who congratulated me and told me about Aline's injury. I was very surprised, but after I confirmed the call-up and told some friends who were at the gym, it started to sink in. I saw this call-up as a new opportunity God was giving me, and I'm grateful to Emily for remembering me," she said.

Regarding expectations for the new season, Karen expressed optimism: "I'm very confident about what we're doing. We're putting in the effort in every training session, trying to meet all the coaching staff's requests, and striving to do excellent work, eventually reaching among the top teams in Brazil. Of course, we want to win, but we know the championship is long and difficult. We'll fight and fight to keep this title with us."

Nathane, the new striker signed by Flamengo/Marinha, scored the winning goal for Brazil and stated that it was important not only to impress Emily Lima, but also coach Ricardo Abrantes: "Last year I was at Iranduba and now I've come to Flamengo, which is a significant team and the current Brazilian champion. I'm very happy to be playing for the club and even happier to have been called up by Emily, it was a great experience. Regardless of the team, we need to be professional and perform well, especially for the national team. I have to show my work not only to the coach, but also to Ricardo, and performance on the field counts a lot."

"We're hoping for a very good year. We've been working for a month now and doing a preseason with very intense training. We're going all out in this Brasileirão to defend this title and try to win the championship for the second time," concluded the forward.

Goalkeeper Maike emphasized the importance of the Brazilian National Team's initiative, reinforcing Flamengo's commitment to the season. "It was an incredible experience, my first time with the senior team. It was only a short time, just a week, but I learned a lot. Emily had an excellent initiative, selecting girls by region and conducting a broader assessment of the category. This will further spark the interest of many girls who perhaps never thought they would make it to the national team. Thanks to her, we will all have the opportunity to showcase our work and, consequently, help the Brazilian National Team with the talents discovered throughout the country," she said.

"Flamengo is coming with everything for the 2017 season and has been training since January 9th for the Brazilian Championship, which doesn't start until March 12th. It's going to be a very competitive tournament. This year, several new teams with a lot of potential have emerged, but the club is here to compete and be among the best," added Maike.
