CBF announces groups for the Brazilian Women's Under-18 Championship
Flamengo is in Group E against three northeastern teams
By Mariana Sa - inThe time is coming for Flamengo's big debut in the Brazilian Under-18 Women's Football Championship. This Wednesday (12), the CBF officially released the regulations and groups for the competition, which is scheduled to start on July 8. In total, there will be 24 teams fighting for the title.
The following teams are registered, in addition to Flamengo,: Atlético-MG, Foz Cataratas/Athletico Paranaense, Kindermann/Avaí, Santos, Chapecoense, Corinthians, Ferroviária, Internacional, Botafogo, Cruzeiro, Ponte Preta, Sao Paulo, Bahia, Fluminense, Minas-Icesp Brasilia, Palmeiras, San Francisco-BA, Vitoria-BA, Vitoria de Santo Antão-PE, Iranduba, Paysandy, Pinheirense-PA and Vasco.
The Mais Querido is in Group E, along with São Francisco-BA, Vitória-BA, and Vitória-PE. The first phase runs from July 8th to 19th, with the venue in Recife.
Athletes born after 2001 are eligible to participate. Children under 14 years of age cannot be registered on the teams.
Dispute system
The first phase will be divided into six groups, with four clubs in each. The leader of each group advances, as do the two best second-place teams. All teams play each other, home and away, within their own group, which has a previously defined schedule.
The next stage, with eight teams, will be divided into two groups, determined by drawing lots, with four teams per group. They will play at a single venue, in a single round, and two teams will advance to the semifinals. With home-and-away matches, the winners will qualify for the final, also in two matches.
The home field in the second leg will always be held by the team with the better record. There will be no admission fees for these matches.
