With a good record at home, Flamengo/Marinha welcomes Portuguesa
The girls from Gávea are counting on a good result to continue their fight for qualification.
By Mariana Sa - inThe Flamengo/Marinha girls return to play at home this Wednesday (6). At 15 pm, the red-blacks receive Portuguesa-SP for another round of the Brazilian Women's Football Championship. In Gávea, Fla seeks another victory in its domains.
In the last round, Flamengo drew 2-2 against Audax-SP. In Osasco, Flamengo started off behind and conceded two goals in the first half. In the second half, Flamengo recovered and equalized with goals from Carol and Bárbara.
Ricardo Abrantes will be missing several key players for the match. Rayanne, Carol, Stefane, and Andressa, who have been loaned to the senior and U-20 national teams, are unavailable. Renata, Rafaela, and Jane are also recovering from injuries.
Flamengo currently occupies third place in Group 2, with nine points, two wins, three draws and one defeat.
Dispute system
In the first stage of the competition, the teams face each other in a home-and-away format. Then, the top four clubs from each of the two groups advance to the quarterfinals, semifinals, and final. All matches will be played in home-and-away format. The Brazilian champion also secures a spot in the 2019 Copa Libertadores.
the opponent
Portuguesa is second to last in the group, with one win, two draws, and three losses in six matches. The São Paulo team is coming off two losses, a 3-1 loss in the Brasileirão and a 10-0 loss in the Campeonato Paulista.
Retrospect
This will be only the second meeting between the teams in history. In 2015, Flamengo/Marinha's first year in the Brasileirão, the red-and-blacks faced Portuguesa at Gávea Stadium and won 4-0. Karen, Ana, Gaby, and Roberta scored the goals.
