With the game decided by a penalty, Flamengo loses to Real Brasília in the Brasileirão Feminina
Away from home, Meninas da Gávea are defeated 1-0
By Chico Freire - inOn Saturday night (15), Flamengo faced a tough challenge in the Brazilian Women's Championship. Away from home and without starting players, the Meninas da Gávea were defeated by Real Brasília. The only goal of the night was scored on a penalty in the first minutes of the game. The red-blacks pressed until the end and created a lot of danger, but goalkeeper Dida, from Real Brasília, stood out and avoided the draw.
Now, the Brasileirão Women's Championship will be suspended due to the Olympic Games. The Meninas da Gávea team will return to the field in August, against Kindermann, in the penultimate round of the first phase of the competition.
The game
The Gávea Girls started the match by taking the initiative. Flamengo's home advantage and the absence of key players didn't stop them from playing purposefully and attacking from the opening minutes. Eight minutes into the match, Crivelari rose unmarked and headed a shot wide of the goal. Three minutes later, Real Brasília opened the scoring. In a rare attack, the home team was awarded a penalty, which Baião converted. The Gávea Girls didn't lose their composure and continued to press. In the 16th minute, Glaucia threatened with a shot from outside the box. Soon after, the number nine attempted a cross and ended up putting the ball very close to Real Brasília's goal. At the 22nd minute, Fabi Simões dribbled inside the opponent's box and was brought down in the penalty area. Djeni's free kick hit the post. In the 38th minute, Fabi Simões played a one-two with Gláucia and burst into the box, but the goalkeeper came out of her goal and kept the ball. Halftime arrived with the red-and-blacks behind.
Coach Maurício Salgado made changes for the second half, and Flamengo returned to the field with Darlene replacing Djeni. The number seven already showed her worth and, after 30 seconds on the field, shot from outside the box to test Real Brasília's goalkeeper. The red-and-black pressure continued intensely, and in the third minute, Gláucia created a great chance. The forward burst into the box, dribbled past the defender, and played in Crivelari, who shot just wide of the post. Needing to find a result, the red-and-black coach pushed the team forward, taking off defender Núbia and sending midfielder Louvain onto the field. Thais Regina, who was playing as a defensive midfielder, returned to the defense. With 3 minutes gone, Jucinara took a left-footed free kick, forcing the goalkeeper to stretch to save. At 23, Thais Regina had the chance in a corner kick and, again, goalkeeper Dida managed to prevent the red-black equalizer.
