The red-and-black women's soccer team now has a new structure. With extensive experience in Minas Gerais soccer, André Rocha, who has been in Rio for four years and previously held another role at the club, takes over as coordinator of the sport. The goal is to further improve the department.

"The women's team is growing rapidly, and Flamengo is preparing effectively to keep up with the sport's growth and development. It's a huge honor to lead the entire department of the country's biggest club, and a huge challenge as well. We want to follow the men's team's example, and our biggest goal is to become a national benchmark. We have a well-organized medium-term plan to achieve this. Whenever the Sacred Mantle is on the field, we will make every effort to deliver the best football," said André.

Several changes have already been made, such as the implementation of a dedicated medical department staffed by qualified professionals. Furthermore, the coaching staff gained five new members for the season. Given this scenario, the youth and professional teams will move in the same direction.

At the beginning of 2021, Flamengo has already announced seven signings for its professional team, had a strong campaign in the U-18 Brasileirão, had players called up to the youth team, and received a visit from Swedish coach Pia Sundhage, who watched training at CEFAN alongside assistant coach Bia Vaz, a former player for the Mais Querido. In the adult Carioca Championship, the Meninas da Gávea are undefeated (5 wins) and seeking their sixth consecutive title. Another new development is that, for the first time in its history, the club approved incentive projects exclusively for the sport. It is worth noting that, currently, several girls trained at the club by coach Marcos Gaspar are in the senior group. All of this under the leadership of Vitor Zanelli, Vice President of Youth, Women's, and Futsal.

"We're building an increasingly strong Flamengo team in women's football. We've invested and worked hard to win titles and develop athletes, our two main goals. This project began in 2019 and has always been handled with care. I'm sure we'll continue to grow significantly," Zanelli concluded.
