On Friday afternoon (18), coach Jonas Urias announced the call-up of the Brazilian U-20 team for the final stage of preparation before the South American Championship, which will be held in Chile, between April 6th and 26th. Midfielder Cris, from the main team, and striker Mariana Fernandes, captain of the youth team, are on the list. Both will be in Pinheiral-RJ next week.

Confirmed among the group of athletes traveling to the competition, Cris has been a standout performer. A key player in Mister Luis Andrade's game plan, the number 8 player shone in the 3-1 victory over Cresspom, where she provided a beautiful assist for Maria Alves in the final round of the Brasileirão. The youngster, beaming, stated that her biggest goal is to lift the tournament trophy.

"I'm very happy with this opportunity. This is my last year with the U-20 team, so I want to make the most of it. It's hard to put all my feelings into words; the feeling is inexplicable. I'll keep working hard to do well in the national team and fight for the South American title," he commented.  

At Flamengo since 2019 (the start of the project), Mariana Fernandes is one of the club's greatest gems and has competed in every tournament possible with the Manto. Known for her skill, speed, and ability to score goals, the Menina da Gávea (Girl from Gávea) was called up for the first time in her career and was deeply moved. Affectionately nicknamed MF7, the player, who will be part of the support team, gave a special thanks and expressed her gratitude for fulfilling a long-held dream.

"Receiving the news of my first call-up gave me a mix of incredible emotions. I'm happy and grateful to reap the rewards I've been sowing over time. I believe it will be a great experience; I hope to learn a lot, but I also know I'm going to add to the team. This is the realization of another dream of mine, one that wouldn't have been possible without the support of my family, friends, all my teammates, and the Flamengo coaching staff. I'll do everything I can to be the first of many," she stated.
