Flamengo beat Fluminense 1-0 on Friday night (15), at Estádio Luso-Brasileiro, for the 11th round of the Brasileirão Feminino. Superior for much of the Rio de Janeiro derby, the Meninas da Gávea controlled possession, created the main opportunities and secured the victory with a goal from Cristiane, who was celebrating her birthday that night. With the fifth positive result in the competition, Rubro-Negro totaled 19 points and climbed to fifth place in the championship.

The game

In the opening moments of the Rio de Janeiro derby, Flamengo sought to maintain possession, exchanging passes from their own half to their attacking third. Fluminense, on the other hand, adopted a more defensive posture, relying on direct passes to the offensive third. In the 24th minute, the Flamengo women's team created a dangerous chance. Laysa attempted a shot from outside the box, forcing Kemelli into a great save. Shortly before, the Flamengo striker had already hit the post of the Fluminense goalkeeper's goal.

With good movement in attack, the Flamengo team dominated possession and gave the Fluminense defense a hard time, as they tried to close down the spaces. After much persistence, Flamengo opened the scoring in the 35th minute with Cristiane, the birthday girl! Laysa made a good play on the left, cut past the defender and crossed perfectly for Cristiane to head in at the far post, giving the goalkeeper no chance: 1-0.

In the final minutes of the first half, Flamengo continued to control the game and even had a penalty not awarded in their favor. Laysa received the ball at the edge of the area and shot first-time. The ball hit Driely's arm inside the area, but the referee waved play on. Thus, the Flamengo women went into halftime with the lead.

In the second half, Flamengo maintained its defensive solidity and closed down spaces to prevent attacks from the opposing team. At the 10-minute mark, Laysa was released down the left flank, entered the area, and fired a low shot across goal, forcing another good save from Kemelli. Needing to overcome the deficit, Fluminense began to press more and created several dangerous moments, requiring good interventions from Karol Alves.

Throughout the final stage, Flamengo still created opportunities to extend their lead, but also suffered some defensive scares. However, the team led by Celso Silva knew how to manage the advantage and confirmed the victory in the derby. With their fifth win in the competition, the Flamengo women's team climbed the table and now occupy fifth place.
