With an eye on the Brazilian championship in the category, Mengão's U-20 team returns to CEFAN
The team begins work focused on becoming champion of the national competition, which will have a different format and is scheduled for March.

With a squad full of familiar faces, Flamengo's U-20s returned to the team this Monday morning (16), at CEFAN. Initially, the athletes had a meeting with Celso Silva and the entire coaching staff, which was reinforced by Thiago Oliveira, the professional's assistant during 2021 and 2022. Afterwards, they will undergo exams, physical tests and activities on the field in the coming days.
A semifinalist in the Brazilian Championship and champion of the Unifoot Diamond Pro Cup last season, the team enters the year with positive prospects thanks to the continued work. The roster has remained largely unchanged, with the permanent rise of some of the players who stood out in the U-17 State Championship, such as right-back Bruna, midfielder Myla, and forward Ingrid Santos.
"We're starting the year happy and with a more structured project. We're celebrating our first year as a team in 2022, and now we're reaping the rewards. Our goals are directly related to development, but always with winning in mind. The idea is to reach the top of the competitions, with the national tournament as our top priority. We want to maintain a high level of quality, as Flamengo usually does, and go in to win," said coach Celso.
According to the calendar released by the CBF in December, the Meninas da Gávea will face the Brasileirão starting on March 8th with a change in format: the clubs will play the matches as home teams, and there will no longer be a single venue. Regionally, the Carioca Championship is expected to be held in the second half of the year.
