Flamengo comes from behind to beat São Paulo 3-1 in the semi-final of the Brazilian Women's Under-20 Championship.
The girls from Gávea fell behind, but played a great second half and opened up an advantage in the first game of the match.
By Paulo Neto - inOn Thursday afternoon (2), Flamengo beat São Paulo in the first leg of the semi-final of the Brazilian Women's Under-20 Championship. With goals from Núbia, Gica and Duda Rodrigues, all in the second half, Mais Querido opened up an advantage and will go to São Paulo, next Thursday (9), being able to lose by up to one goal difference to qualify for the finals.
The game
Flamengo started the match dominating the action. With possession, the Mais Querido worked their way up the attacking half in search of the first goal. As the first half progressed, the teams evened things out. In the 25th minute, São Paulo opened the scoring: 0-1. In the final stretch of the first half, the girls from Gávea pressed for an equalizer, but went into the break trailing by the narrowest of margins.
Flamengo started the second half the same way they finished the first: overwhelming their opponents. In the 13th minute, the Girls from Gávea's persistence paid off. After a corner kick from Ingrid, Núbia rose above everyone and headed the ball into the net! The score was tied at Gávea: 1-1.
Cris then made a beautiful play through the middle and found Duda Rodrigues in the box. The Flamengo forward received the ball and passed it to Gica, who controlled it and finished with aplomb into the corner to turn the match around: 2-1 Flamengo.
There was still time to increase the score! Kaylane received a pass in the box, pivoted, and passed to Duda Rodrigues, who finished low to make it 3-1 for Flamengo. Duda's goal sealed the match.
