In the debut of women's football in the 2024 season, Flamengo beat Fluminense 3-0, on Saturday morning (3), at the Luso Brasileiro stadium, in the first round of the Copa Rio in the category. Darlene and debutants Cristiane and Naná scored Mengão's goals.

The game
With some new faces on the team, the Meninas da Gávea started the derby by taking the initiative and going on the attack. Looking for space, the red-and-black team exchanged passes in the attacking half. In the seventh minute, Darlene attempted a one-two with debutant Cristiane, but the ball went into the hands of the Tricolor goalkeeper.

Soon after, Djeni managed to steal the ball in midfield and passed it to Cristiane. Cristiane burst into the box and ended up shooting over the goal. In the 11th minute, Jucinara attempted a cross, but the ball hit the crossbar after a quick touch with the goalkeeper's fingertips. It was almost the first goal for the red-and-blacks.

After the technical timeout, Fluminense grew into the game and began to threaten Barbieri's goal more. The first half ended goalless at Luso Brasileiro.

Early in the second half, the Red-Blacks missed a great opportunity. With the goalkeeper out of her goal, Darlene took a shot from midfield, but the ball went wide. Then, Mengão opened the scoring! Crivelari shot from outside the box, but the goalkeeper rebounded to Darlene, who this time made no mistake and sent it home: 1-0.

After the goal, the Meninas da Gávea continued to attack. In the 20th minute, Darlene took a well-placed free kick; the goalkeeper rebounded, but the Tricolor defense managed to clear it. The Mais Querido extended their lead in the 25th minute with the debutant of the day! Laysa ran down the right, sent a low cross into the box, and top scorer Cristiane, always in the right place, simply tapped it in for a 2-0 goal.

In the closing stages, Glaucia delivered a great pass to Cristiane, who burst into the box from the left and fired a cross-shot. The ball sailed just wide of the post. To round off the game, fellow debutant Naná also scored, following a pass from Isadora: 3-0. An excellent debut for Mengão in the 2024 season.

The Girls from Gávea return to the field on Sunday (11) to face Ferroviária, at 10:30 am, at the Luso Brasileiro stadium, in the quarterfinals of the Women's Super Cup.
