This Wednesday (27), at 19 pm, Flamengo/Marinha faces an important challenge in the third round of the Brazilian Women's Football Championship. In São José dos Campos, the red-blacks face São José at the Martins Pereira Stadium. The match will be broadcast live on the competition's Twitter.

The last round of the Brasileirão was very positive for the Meninas da Gávea. Playing in Los Larios, the Mais Querido prevailed and easily defeated Vitória-PE, scoring 10-0. The goals were scored by Raíza (three times), Dany Helena, Flávia and Rafaela Silva (two), as well as Pâmela.

Flamengo x San Jose
The teams have faced each other on four occasions, twice in 2016 and twice in 2017. Playing in São José dos Campos, there were two 0-0 draws. In Rio de Janeiro, there were two victories for Fla: one 2-0 (goals by Maurine and Bárbara) and another 1-0 (goal by Larissa).

the opponent
São José is coming off two wins, totaling six points from two matches. In the first round, the São Paulo team defeated Minas Icesp-DF 3-1 away from home. Then, on home soil, they secured another positive result, this time against Ponte Preta, 2-0.

Flamengo/Marinha in the Brazilian Championship
This will be Flamengo/Marinha's fifth appearance in the Brasileirão. Playing nationally since 2015, the red-and-black team won the title in 2016 and competed vigorously for the title in every edition. Last year, the team reached the semifinals. It's worth noting that Flamengo finished last year with the Campeonato Carioca title, its fourth since the partnership began.

Dispute system
Starting this season, the competition format will be different from previous years. This time, all 16 teams will face each other in a single round, alternating between home and away matches. The top eight teams advance to the quarterfinals and so on until the final. In the knockout stage, all matches will be home and away.

Having been one of the top eight teams last season, the regulations state that Flamengo will play eight matches at home and seven away.

In a Women's World Cup year, the competition is scheduled to take a break between rounds nine and ten. Therefore, the Meninas da Gávea will play at the end of May and return only in July.

In addition to Flamengo, the participating teams are: Foz Cataratas/Athlético-PR, Ponte Preta, Kindermann/Avaí, Iranduba, Ferroviária, Audax-SP, Rio Preto, Santos, São Francisco-BA, São José-SP, Corinthians, Sport Recife, Vitória de Santo Antão-PE, Vitória-BA and Minas ICESP-DF.
