It was exciting and just the way every Flamengo fan likes it! Early in the afternoon this Saturday (6), in the first game of the day at the World Sevens, Flamengo drew with Toronto in normal time 2-2, won on penalties 2-1. Ju Ferreira and Glaucia scored the goals in regulation time. In the penalties, Fernanda and Cristiane converted, Vivi Holzel saved one and the Meninas da Gávea turned Beyond Bankard Field into a funk party again.

The game

Just like in the match against Kansas, Flamengo started behind on the scoreboard, but didn't abandon the plan devised by the coaching staff and quickly equalized with a beautiful play by Glaucia. The number 10 dribbled from midfield to the penalty area and chipped the ball past the goalkeeper. The goal gave the team confidence, allowing them to take few risks and go into halftime tied.

On the return, the Canadian team scored from a free kick, and from that moment on, Flamengo applied total pressure. With Monalisa as a goalkeeper-forward, the Rubro-Negro played in the attacking half and, after much persistence, managed to equalize with a goal from Ju Ferreira in the last play of regulation time. The midfielder took advantage of a deflection from Djeni and shot hard: 2-2. In extra time, the match remained tight and went to penalties. As the regulations only allow one penalty kick per club, Fernanda converted and Rollins also scored. Then, Cristiane scored and Vivi Holzel saved: 2-1 and an incredible celebration on the pitch!

Flamengo will play again later today at 19:30 PM (15:30 PM local time) against Tigres-MEX, for the final round of the first phase.
