In the last round of the first phase of the Brasileirão Feminino, Flamengo drew with Grêmio 1-1, on Wednesday afternoon (18), in Eldorado do Sul (RS). In a very disputed duel and with a lot of rain, the Meninas da Gávea showed a lot of grit and equalized the score in the final minutes with Vitória Almeida. Now, Mengão faces Palmeiras in the quarterfinals of the national competition. 

The game
Under heavy rain in Eldorado do Sul and on a soggy pitch, the match began with a fierce battle for possession. Both teams tried to attack, but with numerous puddles on the field, the game didn't flow as expected. In the 17th minute, Grêmio opened the scoring. After a free kick in the box, Karol Alves came out with a punch, Amanda headed the ball over the red-and-black goalkeeper: 1-0. 

Flamengo responded in the 30th minute and created a great chance to equalize. Valéria Cantuário crossed into the box, but the defender missed. Glaucia controlled the ball and shot, but the ball went wide of the goal. The first half ended with the team from Rio Grande do Sul ahead. 

After the second half, the game remained fiercely contested, with fouls constantly interrupting the game. The heavy pitch hampered the flow of the match. In the 19th minute, Fernanda received the ball at the edge of the box, spun around her marker, and shot weakly. The goalkeeper made the save. 

In the final stretch, the Meninas da Gávea equalized. Vitória Almeida pounced on a ball lofted into the box and headed it in. The ball flew over the goalkeeper and into the net: 1-1. In stoppage time, the red-and-blacks nearly turned the game around. Valéria Cantuário received the ball inside the box, dribbled past the goalkeeper, and shot toward goal. The ball bounced off the ball weakly and landed in a puddle. 

Game over in Eldorado do Sul! Qualified for the quarterfinals, the Meninas da Gávea will face Palmeiras in a two-legged tie.
