The Under-18 team presents itself at CEFAN and begins preparations for the Brazilian Championship in this category.
Girls take part in their first field activity after a period of online training
By Rafael Rezende - inOn Tuesday morning, Flamengo's U-18 team reported for training for the Brazilian Championship, scheduled for January 2021. At CEFAN, the girls underwent assessments with physical trainer André Cavalcanti and then spoke with coach Marcos Gaspar. Goalkeeping coach Antonio Bezerra was also present.
Following all health protocols, athletes and coaching staff underwent COVID-19 testing over the past week. Masks are not mandatory during activities.
"Returning to activities is important and enjoyable, even though it's an unusual year. We have the Brasileirão ahead of us, and the preparation period will be short, but that doesn't matter. Flamengo always enters competitions thinking about being champion, and this time will be no different. I believe the championship will be more evenly matched, and the psychological aspect will certainly make all the difference," said Marcos.
"Although we've been working online during the pandemic, there's clearly a difference in the girls' physical conditioning. In the tests we conducted today, we found that the quarantine had a significant impact. We'll have 45 days of training before the competition, and although it's a short time, we'll try to get the most out of the athletes to achieve our goals," concluded André.
