It's time to play at home. This Wednesday (2), Flamengo/Marinha hosts Ponte Preta, at 15 pm, at the Gávea stadium, for the second round of the Brazilian Women's Football Championship A-1. The red-blacks, who have a good record playing at home, need the victory and arrive motivated.

In the last game, Flamengo was defeated by Santos 6-0. With one player less since the first half, the Mais Querido was unable to hold off the opponent's attack and left Vila Belmiro with a heavy setback in the competition's debut.

In the first stage of the competition, the teams face each other in a home-and-away format. Then, the top four clubs from each of the two groups advance to the quarterfinals, semifinals, and final. All matches will be played in home-and-away format. The Brazilian champion also secures a spot in the 2019 Copa Libertadores.

Ponte Preta is coming off a victory in the first round of the Brasileirão. At Moisés Lucarelli Stadium, the São Paulo team hosted Vitória (PE) and won 1-0 with a goal scored by Kerolin. The red-and-black opponent also played in the Campeonato Paulista Feminino this weekend, drawing 1-1 with Audax. Coming from behind, Ponte Preta rallied with a goal from Ana to earn a point in the competition.

Flamengo and Ponte Preta have faced each other twice in the history of the Brazilian Women's Championship, both in 2017. Still in the group stage of the competition, the teams played one duel in Rio de Janeiro and another in Campinas. In the first round, the Meninas da Gávea put on a show in Gávea, defeating Alvinegro 3-0, with goals from Pâmela, Larissa, and Jane.

In the return leg, Flamengo went to Moisés Lucarelli and ended up losing. Ponte Preta opened the scoring and extended the lead, but Raquel scored to reduce the deficit. However, Flamengo conceded another goal and lost 3-1.
