Flamengo's U-20 women's soccer team has a new manager for 2024. Felipe Freitas, formerly of Cruzeiro and Santos, has reached an agreement with the club and has already begun training at CEFAN (National Football Federation of the National Federation of Football) to meet the season's commitments. The Meninas da Gávea's debut in the category will be in early February.

Born in Curitiba, the coach has CBF courses and gained notoriety in the sporting scene when he was in charge of the Santos youth team, where he was crowned São Paulo Under-17 champion with a goal from right-back Ana Laura - now part of the Mais Querido's main squad - and was a semi-finalist in the Brasileirão Under-18 in 2021.

Then, in 2022, Felipe took over Cruzeiro's professional team and stayed until July 2023. In Minas Gerais, he reached the quarterfinals of the Brasileirão for the first time and performed exceptionally well. Now at Mengão, his goal is to continue his development and, of course, pursue a championship.

"When we join Flamengo, we redefine what it means to be great. It's a gigantic institution that has been doing great things for football for years. I'm happy with the opportunity, and my expectations for the year are high. Our squad is strong, qualified, and includes players who have played for the national team, so I'm sure we'll do everything we can to win titles. Together, we want to bring joy to the nation," he stated.
