Flamengo announced this Friday (9) the second signing for the 2026 season. It is defender/midfielder Layza Cavalcanti, who was at Cruzeiro. The 23-year-old athlete joins the Meninas da Gávea for the disputes of Copa Rio, Campeonato Brasileiro, Copa do Brasil and Campeonato Carioca.

A native of São Paulo, Layza was discovered by Vila Guarani-SP, where she stood out in the 2017/2018 seasons. The following year, she transferred to Santos, remaining at Vila Belmiro for two years. In 2020, the defender was signed by Atlético-MG, and last season she played for Cruzeiro before being signed by Flamengo. 

“My expectations are the highest possible. Wearing the Sacred Mantle represents the fulfillment of a dream and a great honor. Being in this club of such magnitude is a source of pride and responsibility. May it be a blessed year, full of hard work, progress, and achievements for all of us,” said Layza.
