Luana Gusmão, Isa Condorelli, Duda Mattos and Maria Fernanda join the red-black squad

The reigning Brazilian and state champions, Flamengo's U-20 squad returned for the season focused on repeating last year's key achievements, with some new faces. The club signed four players: defender Duda Mattos, goalkeeper Isa Condorelli, right-back Luana Gusmão, and attacking midfielder Maria Fernanda.

Beyond the pursuit of titles, the category's main mission is to develop athletes for the main team. This process has been ongoing and is one of the main pillars of Flamengo's women's soccer project, keeping alive the legacy that "Flamengo makes great players at home."

Luana Gusmão and Duda Mattos: an inseparable duo

Luana Gusmão and Duda Mattos's soccer journey began with a shared dream. At age 10, they met for the first time at the Barcelona academy. Years later, they joined the PSG academy together. It was the beginning of a career and, even more so, of a great friendship.

They continued their journey: they played for Fluminense for three years, went on loan to Minas Brasília, and transferred—once again together—to Ferroviária. The offers arrived practically simultaneously. There, they won their first U-16 Libertadores title and also experienced sad moments, such as Duda's injury. Luana's support was crucial throughout the process.

The friends and teammates went their separate ways for a few months: Luana went to Ferroviária, while Duda played for Santos. At the end of the year, fate crossed their paths again with an invitation from Flamengo. From now on, a new story begins to be written. And having a longtime partner by their side makes the adjustment much easier.

A right-back with a strong run for the Brazilian U-17 national team, where she won the South American Championship and competed in the World Cup, Luana's attacking skills are eye-catching. She's a talented player who's projecting new achievements: "I really want to help the team win. I came here thinking about that, and I think we have all the conditions to do so this year."

A defender with excellent passing, tactical understanding, and precision in tackling, Duda sees joining Mengão as a huge opportunity in her career: "I hope to be able to contribute a lot and I want to be a champion with the Manto Sagrado. I promise to do everything I can to maintain the club's winning legacy."

Isa Condorelli: from outfield player to penalty-taking goalkeeper

Born in Rio de Janeiro, Condorelli started playing in her own condominium at the age of six. She played as a defender until her team competed in a competition without a goalkeeper. It was love at first sight. She moved to the field after a trial and played for Fluminense and Vasco before signing with Grêmio. In the South, she worked hard and honed her skills.

The last edition of the Copinha was where the goalkeeper showed everyone how easily she can make impressive saves and save penalties. Back in her hometown, she feels ready: "Being able to represent Flamengo gives me a great feeling. I'm happy and motivated by this challenge. I know the weight of the Mantle and I'll give it my all."

Maria Fernanda: the bet

Coming from futsal, Maria Fernanda gradually began alternating between the court and the field. In 2023, she was runner-up in the Brasil Ladies Cup U-20 with Avaí Kindermann, and last season she played for Joinville, where she performed well in the Campeonato Catarinense.

Knowing that this is an unmissable opportunity, the attacking midfielder wants to acquire as much knowledge as possible and find her place: "Being here is a dream. I remember the day I heard about the offer... I said yes without even thinking twice. I really want to write my name in Flamengo's history. Football has taught me to never give up and as long as the ball is rolling, I'll go after it."
