TWO-TIME CHAMPION! In the second leg of the Rio de Janeiro Women's Under-20 Championship final, Flamengo defeated Fluminense 4-2 on penalties on Sunday afternoon (5) in Xerém, securing their second consecutive title. In normal time, the match ended in a 1-1 draw with a goal from Brendha. In the penalty shootout, goalkeeper Condorelli shone, saving two shots and helping the red-and-black team take another trophy to Gávea.  

The game

Playing away from home, Flamengo started the match looking to exchange passes to attack. But it was Fluminense who threatened in the fifth minute, forcing Condorelli to make a good save. In the 14th minute, Mengão opened the scoring in Xerém! Nicoli won the ball back in midfield and passed it to Brendha. Jany came out of goal to make the save but let the ball slip away. The Flamengo striker prevailed and finished into the net: 1-0. 

With the advantage, the Meninas da Gávea continued to dominate possession, exchanging passes in the attacking half. In the final minutes of the first half, Fluminense tried to press for an equalizer before halftime, but the red-and-black defense was well-positioned and gave the home team no chance. With this result, Mengão is on track to win the Rio de Janeiro title. 

Early in the second half, the referee awarded a penalty to Fluminense for a foul on Mileninha. The number 8 herself took the shot, and Condorelli saved it in the center of the goal, saving the red-and-black team from a draw. However, the home team continued to press and leveled the score eight minutes into the second half with Carioca: 1-1. 

In the 17th minute, Sofia received a red card for a foul on Carioca, leaving Flamengo with ten men. Later in the game, center forward Carioca received a second yellow card and was also sent off. This left both teams with ten men going into the final stretch. In the final minutes, Leane received a free kick in the box and shot straight at the goalkeeper. Flamengo still had a chance with Emily, who shot from the edge of the box, but Jane saved. With the tie, the decision went to penalties. 

In the penalty shootout, Mengão prevailed, winning 4-2 and becoming the two-time champion of the U-20 Women's Carioca Championship. Condorelli stood out, saving two penalties. It's worth noting that the red-and-black goalkeeper had also saved a penalty in regulation time. Brendha, Bruna, Cerqueira, and Isabela Nunes converted the penalties for the "Mais Querido" (Most Beloved).
