Flamengo knows the schedule for the U-20 Women's Rio Cup

The first competition of the year will serve as preparation for the Brazilian Championship in this category

Last year's Brazilian and Rio de Janeiro champions, Flamengo's U-20 team will kick off the 2025 season in a different way, competing in the category's Copa Rio. This is the second edition of the competition, but for the first time, FERJ has organized it in the first half of the year, as the main objective is to serve as preparation for the Brasileirão. The Mais Querido's debut will be on Saturday (26), against Fluminense, away from home.

The tournament is divided into two phases. Initially, the six clubs—Botafogo, Carapebus, Santa Cruz, and Vasco are also participating—face each other in a round-robin format. Subsequently, the top two teams advance to the final, which will consist of home-and-away matches.

The Meninas da Gávea returned in January with new additions. In addition to maintaining the same squad that competed in the Copinha, Flamengo brought in goalkeeper Isa Condorelli, right-back Luana Gusmão, defender Duda Mattos, and attacking midfielder Maria Fernanda. In a brief interview, coach Filipe Torres outlined Flamengo's goals for the championship.

"Our expectations are the best possible. We are in intense preparation and aim to evolve as planned in all areas—physical, psychological, tactical, and technical. We will use the Rio Cup to reach the highest competitive level in the Brazilian Under-20 Championship; after all, our goal is to win our second championship," he declared.
