In the second round of the Brasil Ladies Cup, Flamengo lost to Palmeiras 1-0 on Tuesday night (14), at the Santana de Parnaíba Municipal Stadium, in São Paulo. In the last game of the first phase, Mais Querido faces Santos on Thursday (16) needing a victory to try to qualify for the final.
The game
The match began with Palmeiras taking the initiative, while Flamengo looked compact at the back and defended well. In the eighth minute, Andressa made a beautiful play and passed to Darlene, who took a shot, but the Alviverde goalkeeper made the save.
Despite showing solid defense, Flamengo struggled to break out of their own half due to the tight marking of the São Paulo team. With Flamengo creating few opportunities, the first half ended 0-0.
In the second half, Palmeiras continued to dominate possession and threaten Gabi Croco's goal more. Flamengo, meanwhile, closed up and waited to counterattack. In the 28th minute, Palmeiras took the lead. Bruna Caldeiran pounced on a loose ball in the box and slotted it home: 1-0.
The Red-Blacks even tied the game in the 44th minute with Darlene, but the assistant referee raised the flag and incorrectly called offside. The Meninas da Gávea searched for the equalizer until the last minute of stoppage time, but ended up leaving the field with the defeat.
