In the second phase of the Brazilian Under-18 Women's Championship, Flamengo was defeated by Santos 1-0 on Tuesday morning (09), at CT do Criciúma. In the next round, the Meninas da Gávea face the Palmeiras team.
The game
The first half started evenly, with both teams closely studying each other. The Meninas da Gávea waited for Santos' attacks and tried to counterattack quickly. In the 29th minute, Maria Peck felt discomfort in her thigh and was replaced by Letícia. In a tightly contested first half, but with few opportunities created, the teams went into the break with the score 0-0.
In the second half, the game remained fiercely contested, but there were few clear-cut scoring chances. Both goalkeepers were rarely challenged. In the final minutes, Santos tried to pressure the red-and-black team, but the Meninas da Gávea were well-positioned defensively and managed to neutralize their chances. With little time remaining, Flamengo was surprised. On a quick counterattack in the 38th minute, Miracatu made it 1-0 for the Vila Belmiro team, sealing the victory for Santos.

The Girls from Gávea return to the field next Thursday (11) to face Palmeiras, at 9:30 am, at CT do Criciúma.
