In the debut of the 2025 Women's Brasileirão, Flamengo ended up losing to São Paulo 1-0 on Monday night (24) at the Luso-Brasileiro stadium. The Meninas da Gávea had ample control in the first half, but failed to convert their chances into goals. In the first minute of the second half, Isa found the net and gave the victory to the tricolor team. Now, the red-blacks face Bahia in the second round of the national competition.

The game
The match began with both teams closely studying each other. When the Meninas da Gávea moved forward, they struggled to complete the final pass. Five minutes in, Ju Ferreira sent a long ball to Fernanda, but the goalkeeper anticipated and managed to clear the danger.

Pressing São Paulo's ball out, Cristiane prevailed, making a good play down the left flank, cutting inside, and taking a shot. The ball went wide. Flamengo was more effective in the opening minutes, keeping more possession. In the 18th minute, Jucinara crossed into the box, the São Paulo defender poorly cleared, and the ball fell to Glaucia, who fired a first-time shot wide.

More comfortable in the game, the red-and-black team began to pose a threat to the attack. In the 28th minute, Jucinara received the ball at the edge of the box and unleashed a powerful shot. The ball hit the crossbar. Mengão almost opened the scoring in the Luso-Brazilian match. Four minutes later, Glaucia took a corner kick to the far post and Agustina headed it into the corner. The ball went just wide of the post.

In the final minutes of the first half, the Meninas da Gávea created another excellent chance to break the deadlock. Glaucia sent a beautiful pass to Fernanda, who outplayed her physical presence, entered the box, and struck powerfully. Goalkeeper Carlinha made a great save to keep the match scoreless.

In the first minute of the second half, São Paulo opened the scoring with Isa, who received a pass behind the Flamengo defense and tapped it past Isa Cruz: 1-0. Flamengo tried to respond quickly. Ju Ferreira crossed into the box and Fernanda sent a diving header, but the ball went wide.

To inject some fresh energy into the team, coach Maurício Salgado made some changes to try to equalize. The match's intensity dropped slightly in the second half. São Paulo, for its part, continued to attack and create chances to extend its lead. In the final minutes, the red-and-black team went on the attack in an attempt to equalize, but failed. The match ended with a defeat in the Brasileirão debut.
