Flamengo is defeated by Fluminense in the final of the U-17 Women's Carioca Championship

The girls from Gávea drew in normal time, but were defeated in the penalty shootout.

Flamengo and Fluminense faced each other today (9), in Gávea, for the final of the U-17 Women's Carioca Championship. In a single final match with the best placed in the competition, Flamengo, at the helm. The Rubro-Negro even took the lead on the scoreboard, but conceded the equalizer in the middle of the second half. The match went to penalties and the Mais Querido was defeated 4-3, becoming runner-up of the U-17 Women's Carioca.

The game 

The first half began with Flamengo looking to keep possession. Even with the game tied, the Meninas da Gávea scored twice in 10 minutes. Flamengo's favorite team, Ingrid Santos, made a low cross into the box on the left wing, but the defense barely cleared it. Kaylane got to the rebound but was blocked as she shot. The rest of the first half remained very evenly matched, with no further significant opportunities for either side.

The most important play of the first half was another low cross, this time from the right. The ball fell to Ingrid Santos in the six-yard box, but she took a shot but was blocked by the opposing defender. 

In the second half, Mengão started pressing hard and scored the first goal in the 12th minute, thanks to a solo play by our number 10, Kaylane, who dribbled past the defender and shot from outside the box into the corner of the goal, opening the scoring for the Meninas da Gávea. Fluminense equalized in the 20th minute, after a cross into the box, Janaina mishit the ball, which ended up going in for an own goal.

The match came to an end and the dispute went to penalties. The opposing goalkeeper saved two shots.
