On the morning of this Sunday (8), Flamengo suffered its first setback of the season. Playing away from home, at the Marcelo Vieira Stadium, Mais Querido was defeated by Fluminense, 2-0, and ended its participation in the Copa Rio Feminina in second place overall. 

The game

In the sweltering heat, the Flamengo women's team took the initiative and had more possession in the opening minutes. Their first dangerous attack came from forward Laysa, who sped down the wing and shot wide. Shortly after, in another good individual play, Laysa crossed, Mariana flicked the ball on, and Jucinara shot over the bar. After the first water break, the intensity of the game dropped, and Flamengo couldn't maintain the same rhythm. 

At 34 minutes, Keké crossed into the box and Kamilla jumped higher than the Flamengo defense to open the scoring: 1-0 Fluminense. The goal didn't discourage the team managed by Celso Silva, who pressed hard and almost equalized twice before halftime with a header from Monalisa – goalkeeper Kemelli made a real miracle save – and a shot from defender Layza Cavalcanti.

In the second half, the match became physical and disjointed. The few opportunities created came from Cristiane, Letícia, and Jucinara, but without effectiveness. In the final stretch, with the entire team launched into attack, the opponent took advantage of a set piece and Carioca extended the lead to 2-0. Defeat confirmed and participation in the Copa Rio ended, with focus returned to the Brazilian Championship.

Next appointment

Mengão returns to the field next Friday (13), to face Botafogo, at 19 pm, at the Nilson Santos Stadium, for the third round of the Brazilian Women's Championship.
