Playing away from home, Flamengo was defeated by São Paulo 2-1 on Monday night (4), in Cotia, for the ninth round of the Brazilian Women's Championship. After a fairly balanced first half, the red-black team failed to maintain the same rhythm in the final stage and conceded two goals. In the final minutes, Fernanda reduced the score for Mais Querido.

With this result, the Flamengo women's team suffered their second defeat in the national competition and finished the round in seventh place with 15 points. The team, coached by Celso Silva, will play their next match against Ferroviária at the Luso-Brasileiro stadium.

The game

In the opening minutes, Flamengo managed to maintain possession of the ball for longer periods and sought to attack through short passes. Just three minutes in, they created their first good chance: Djeni crossed into the box, the defense partially cleared, and Cristiane shot first-time over the goal.

With high defensive lines, the Flamengo women's team pressed the opposing team's build-up play and, on several occasions, recovered possession in the attacking half to launch quick counter-attacks. In the 14th minute, Fernanda took a long-range free-kick, unleashing a powerful shot that hit the crossbar, creating a dangerous chance for Carlinha's goal. Well-positioned defensively, Flamengo conceded few opportunities to São Paulo.

At 28 minutes, Fernanda reappeared well on the left, crossed into the area, and the Tricolor defense tried to clear, with the ball going out of bounds, passing close to the post. In the final stretch of the first half, the game became more congested, with passing errors from both teams and few clear chances. In stoppage time, after a corner kick from the right, Núbia jumped higher than the marking and headed dangerously. Even so, the score remained 0-0 until halftime.

Returning for the second half, both teams continued their search for a goal. Flamengo created a good opportunity in the ninth minute when Laysa received the ball on the right side of the area, cut past her marker, and shot, but Carlinha made the save.

However, in the next play, São Paulo opened the scoring. Serrana took advantage of a rebound inside the area and finished into the back of the net, putting the home team ahead.

Six minutes later, the São Paulo team extended their lead. After a cross into the box, Isa rose above the Flamengo defense and headed firmly into the net for the second goal.

Trailing behind, Flamengo tried to react and began to attack more, but encountered difficulties against the opponent's well-organized defense. In the final stretch, the team persisted and created danger again. At 36 minutes, Monalisa took a shot from outside the area and forced Carlinha to make a good save.

Flamengo pressed forward and managed to reduce the deficit in the 42nd minute. Laysa made a good play on the left, dribbled past her marker and crossed low to Fernanda, who was well-positioned to finish into the net: 2-1. In the final minutes, Flamengo still tried to find an equalizer, but the score remained unchanged until the final whistle.
