Flamengo earned an important point away from home by drawing 1-1 with Palmeiras on Monday night (30), at Arena Barueri, for the sixth round of the Brazilian Women's Championship. Against the leader of the competition, the Girls from Gávea took the lead with a great goal from Fernanda, but ended up conceding the equalizer shortly afterwards. 

With this result, Flamengo reached 12 points and remains in third place in the standings. After this round, the national competition will have a short break for the Brazilian National Team's friendly matches. When it returns, Celso Silva's women's team will face Bahia at the Luso-Brasileiro stadium. 

The game

In the opening minutes of the match, Palmeiras took the initiative and sought to attack with quick passing exchanges, trying to find spaces in the Flamengo defense, which proved to be well-positioned and efficient in interceptions. The Flamengo women's team, in turn, pushed forward to pressure and try to surprise the opposing defense by winning the ball back.

As time went on, Flamengo grew into the game and opened the scoring in the 16th minute with a fantastic goal. Cristiane received the ball on the right and made a beautiful pass to Fernanda. The striker controlled the ball with skill, cut inside and finished from the edge of the area, placing the ball in the top left corner of the goal: 1-0.

The lead, however, was short-lived. In the 22nd minute, Palmeiras equalized. Bia Zaneratto found Brena inside the area, and the midfielder finished past Vivi Holzel to level the score at Arena Barueri.

Even after the equalizer, Flamengo maintained their offensive posture and continued to press in the final stretch of the first half. Cristiane made a good individual play in the area and passed to Laysa, who shot over the bar. Moments later, the number 11 appeared again, this time with a header, but goalkeeper Kate Tapia made a great save with her feet to prevent Flamengo's second goal.

In stoppage time, Palmeiras pressed again and forced a good save from Vivi Holzel on a cross-shot by Bia Zaneratto. Thus, the teams went into halftime with the score tied.

In the second half, the game became more fragmented, with many misplaced passes from both sides, which slowed the pace of the match. Playing at home, Palmeiras sought to attack more, but encountered difficulties against Flamengo's solid defense.

At the 30-minute mark, Flamengo had a great opportunity from a set piece. Jucinara took a precise free kick over the wall, and the ball crashed against the crossbar. The team from Gávea almost regained the lead.

In the final minutes, Fernanda took a shot from outside the box, the ball deflected off the defense, and Kate Tapia palmed it away for a corner.

In stoppage time, goalkeeper Vivi Holzel shone once again. In the last dangerous play of the match, she made a great save from a Poliana shot, securing the draw for the red-and-black team away from home. Against the league leaders, Flamengo earned another important point away from home, demonstrating competitiveness and solidity throughout the 90 minutes.
