The Copa Rio is already a closed chapter and the U-20 team's focus is now entirely on the Brazilian Championship. Current champions, Mais Querido will make their debut in the national competition on Thursday afternoon (12), against Real Heips, at 15 pm, at the Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima Stadium, in São Cristóvão. Entry for the public is free.

Due to last weekend's decision, the Meninas da Gávea returned yesterday and trained twice before the match. In Group A—also alongside Fluminense and Mixto-MT—Flamengo enters the tournament seeking its second title. Remaining from the 2024 title, midfielder Anna Luiza spoke about their preparation and emphasized that the team continues to improve steadily.



"The Copa Rio was important in preparing for the Brazilian Championship, which is our main objective this season. We know the importance of this competition; we won last year and want to repeat the feat. It's difficult, but we always aim for the top. Fighting for titles is in Flamengo's DNA, and we're fully aware that we need to give it our all. We're growing, and I see the group really wanting to win," he said.

Brazilian Championship Format

In total, 24 clubs are divided into six groups of four. The six leaders and the two best second-place teams advance to the knockout stage, which will feature two-legged quarterfinals and semifinals. The final will again be played in a single match.
