After completing preseason training in Pinheiral and working hard all week at CEFAN, the time has come for Flamengo's women's soccer team to take the field in 2024. This Saturday morning (3), the Meninas da Gávea will face Fluminense at 10 am at Luso Brasileiro in a match valid for the first round of the Copa Rio. There will be no tickets for sale, and watching the match is simple: just bring 1 kg of non-perishable food - the donation will be made in partnership with Sesc Mesa Brasil. FlaTV will broadcast the match live.
With much of the squad retained and nine signings announced (Barbieri, Djeni, Naná, Glaucia, Sorriso, Cristiane, Fabi Simões, Bibi, and Day Silva), the Mais Querido begins the year focused on achieving the goals set by the coaching staff and the entire board. The first test is in a points-based competition in which the club is the current undefeated champion. Later, on the 11th, the team led by Maurício Salgado will face Ferroviária in the Super Cup.
"Our preparation was crucial; after all, we have a long and competitive season ahead of us, with clear objectives. We placed a lot of emphasis on team chemistry and prepared thoroughly. Debuting against Fluminense is great for us. We'll start with a classic that replicates last year's Carioca semifinal, and then we face Ferroviária, the Brazilian runner-up. These are tough matches, but we're confident," the coach analyzed.
