After playing friendlies in Spain and weeks of full training, it's time for Mengão's women's soccer team to return to the field. This Sunday morning (24), Mais Querido will debut in the Campeonato Carioca against Pérolas Negras, at 10 am, in Gávea. The match will be broadcast live on FlaTV.

In 2023, the competition changed format. The smaller teams competed in a preliminary round, with some advancing to the second round, known as the Guanabara Cup. Within this context, the Rubro-Negro will face seven clubs: the aforementioned Pérolas Negras, Botafogo, Duque de Caxias, Fluminense, Serra Macaense, Tigres do Brasil, and Vasco. The top four advance and face each other in the semifinals. Subsequently, the final is a single-game final.

In the last training session before the match, coach Maurício Salgado, who took over the team in August, previewed the first game.

"We know the importance of the championship; Flamengo always enters with the title in mind. I've noticed improvement in training and see significant progress. Furthermore, I see that the players are highly motivated to compete, so expectations are high," he stated.
